YOGA?


Yoga is many different things to different people. In fact, if you asked 100 people what yoga is, you’d likely get 100 different answers. That is part of the beauty of yoga – it is a personal practice, it means whatever you want it to mean, and you take from it whatever you want to take.

That said, according to the textbooks, yoga is a scientific discipline that dates back thousands of years. By practicing yoga, we explore and strengthen our physical bodies and mental existence.

While yoga is seen as primarily a physical practice in North America, it is, in its truest form, a lifestyle that includes asana (physical postures), meditation, dietary considerations, kriyas (cleansing techniques), pranayama (breath work) and conscious decision making about ourselves, the people and world around us.
